Terms of Use — Daftari

Last updated: 2026-08-20

The service

Daftari is a digital debt ledger for shops: record debts and payments on your device, with an optional service that sends WhatsApp receipts from your own linked number.

Your balance is spent on transactions

Your balance is charged when you record a transaction: every debt or payment you write into the ledger uses a number of units from your monthly plan quota or your extra balance. This has nothing to do with WhatsApp — it happens whether or not a receipt is sent, and whether or not WhatsApp is linked.

WhatsApp receipts may also use units. Linking WhatsApp is entirely optional; the ledger works without it.

We set how much is deducted — per transaction and per WhatsApp message — and we may change it at any time at our discretion, including charging more than one unit per transaction, or beginning to charge for WhatsApp receipts that were previously included. The amounts in force are always shown in the app before you buy and on your balance screen, and a change applies to transactions recorded and messages sent after it — never retroactively to what has already been deducted. If a new amount does not suit you, you are free to stop buying and to cancel your subscription at any time.

Transactions below a published threshold (set in USD and shown in your shop currency) do not use your balance, within reasonable daily limits that exist to prevent automated abuse.

When your balance runs out, recording new transactions stops until you top up or renew. Your ledger and everything already recorded in it stay exactly as they are and are never deleted.

Monthly subscriptions

Monthly plans grant an entry quota that renews each month. Payment is made in-app through the platform store: your App Store account on iOS, Google Play Billing on Android. The subscription auto-renews monthly unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel or change plan at any time from your store's subscription settings ("Manage subscription" in the app links you straight there). Unused quota does not roll over to the next month.

Extra transaction packs

Extra transaction packs are one-time purchases, never expire, and are used after your monthly plan quota runs out.

How in-app purchases work

Every in-app purchase — monthly plans, extra transaction packs and custom plans — goes exclusively through the platform store (App Store or Google Play). The app never sends external payment links and never opens web payment pages. Buying from our website remains separately available for anyone who prefers to pay by card, and activates on the same account.

Refunds

iOS purchases are managed by Apple — refund requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com. Android purchases are managed by Google — through Google Play order history or from inside the Play app. Web purchases via Stripe — contact us from the support page.

Acceptable use

Receipts are for documenting transactions with your real customers. Using the service for unsolicited messages (spam) or any unlawful content is prohibited, and we may suspend accounts that do so.

WhatsApp linking and Business accounts

Linking WhatsApp is optional: the ledger and recording work without it, and linking adds automatic receipts sent from your shop number. The shop owner links one WhatsApp account for the shop number, and we strongly recommend a "WhatsApp Business" account — it is the right fit for messaging customers and reduces the risk of the number being restricted.

Team members (admins and moderators) do not link WhatsApp from their own devices; all their messages are sent from the shop's own WhatsApp number. Automatic sending through WhatsApp is subject to WhatsApp's own terms and you are responsible for complying with them; we are not liable for any restriction or ban WhatsApp imposes on your number. To protect your number we also cap how many messages may go out per hour.

Team accounts

Team accounts are a paid-plan feature that lets the shop owner add employees who work on the shop ledger from their own devices. The owner is responsible for the actions of the employees they add within the service, grants and changes permissions, and can revoke any employee's access at any time. Each employee has one role: "admin", with full control over entries, customers, WhatsApp sending and managing moderators; or "moderator", who records debts and payments, adds customers, and edits or deletes only their own entries — editing or deleting another member's transactions requires the owner's or an admin's approval, and those decisions are kept as an audit log. Billing, WhatsApp linking, shop settings, currency and reports remain the owner's alone. The owner confirms they have the employee's consent to enter their name and phone number. Transactions recorded by employees are charged to the shop's balance. If the subscription lapses, employee access pauses (no data is lost) and resumes automatically on renewal; the owner's own access to their ledger is never affected.

Your data and backups

Your ledger lives on your device, and while you are signed in it is automatically backed up to our servers after every change and restored when you sign in with the same account on a new device. Attachment photos are not included in the cloud backup. If you choose to use the app without an account there is no cloud backup — keep periodic file exports (Settings → Export), because deleting the app without an account or an export means losing the ledger. We make commercially reasonable efforts to preserve backups; keeping an additional file export of critical data remains your responsibility. Deleting your account permanently deletes its cloud backup.

Ads and watch-to-earn

The app may offer an ad in exchange for free transactions added to your balance. Watching is entirely optional and no part of the ledger depends on it. We decide how many transactions a watch grants and how often it may be done each day, and we may change either or withdraw the feature at any time. Ads come from Google's ad network (AdMob) and we do not choose the individual ad; report anything inappropriate through support.

No reward is granted if the watch is not completed or the network does not confirm it.

Voice entry

You can dictate a transaction instead of typing it. The feature is optional, needs microphone permission, and the recording is sent to a speech-to-text service purely to be turned into text (see the privacy policy). You are responsible for what you record, and you must not record other people without their knowledge where the law requires it. The extracted text is a suggestion you review and confirm — nothing is written to your ledger until you press save.

Support and automated replies

The in-app support chat may answer common questions automatically before a person arrives. Automated replies are guidance about using the app only — not legal, accounting or financial advice — and may be inaccurate. If one does not answer your question, write again and a person will follow up.

Verifying your shop number

Verification is optional: a stamp confirming that the number on the account really is yours. It unlocks no extra feature and is not an endorsement or guarantee of your business by us. The code arrives over WhatsApp or as a text message depending on what is available, and we may switch any channel off at any time. If no code reaches you, message support on WhatsApp and we will verify your number by hand once we have checked who you are.

We may remove the stamp if it turns out to have been granted in error, or if the number no longer belongs to the account holder.

Using more than one device

You may use your account on more than one device. Changes from each device are merged into a single ledger record by record: new records are added, the most recent edit wins when the same record is changed on two devices, and a record you delete on one device is deleted from the account. Keep your devices online regularly so their changes reach us.

Accepting these terms

Creating an account, or continuing to use the app, means you agree to these terms. When the terms are updated the app asks you to accept the new version once, and we record the date of your acceptance and the terms version on your account.
